Kaelas Gollapudi (voiced by Kaelah) is a British voice actor who gained fame in movies such as The Girl Next Door, In the Loop and Cars, but now she’s joining up with her co-star Alfonso Cuaron (Fury Road) to star in the upcoming Cars sequel, which is due out in theaters on December 16, 2018.
She told Business Insider that she was very happy to be joining the cast and explained, “Cars 2 is the perfect sequel to the original and it’s a great opportunity for me to take on more of a leading role.”
Here are some highlights from the interview:How did you become involved in this project?
I first got involved in Cars 2 when Alfonso came up with the idea to make a sequel.
I’d been in movies before but I had never been in one.
I didn’t know what I was doing, so I had to do a little bit of homework to figure it out.
The first thing I did was look at the film itself, which was great.
But I realised I had a lot of fun with it and I thought it would be great to get back into movies.
I’m a big fan of Alfonso and I really enjoyed working with him in Fury Road.
I loved the script, I liked the direction, I loved all the characters.
I was very excited to be in this movie.
How did the idea of being in the car come to you?
I actually went out for dinner one night with a friend and I ended up getting in the cab with him and Alfonso.
I thought, ‘Oh no, that’s a bit weird’.
I think we’re all weird at one point in our lives, and I was looking for an opportunity to do something that would give me something to do and it seemed like it was perfect for me.
I did a little research on cars, and then I realised that I’ve always liked cars.
I’ve been a motorcyclist for a long time, and it was one of my passions growing up.
I found the time to become a motorbike rider in the early 90s, and there was something about the idea that it appealed to me, so that was the one part I got.
Did you ever get the chance to ride in a real car?
I’ve never been able to get behind the wheel of one of these cars.
But it was always a dream to have a car.
I think it’s something that everyone has dreams about, and this one was just a dream.
It’s a very big opportunity for you to get involved with a movie, which I’m really happy about.
When you were growing up in the 1970s, you used to get into the car with your mum.
Did you ever dream of owning one of those?
I never really thought about owning one, but I remember being really into cars as a kid, and as I got older, I would sit in the back seat and I would watch cars on TV and I loved it.
How old are you?
I’m about 50, so yeah, I’m older than you.
You said you’re older than me, and that’s pretty awesome.
How did you start out in this role?
I didn`t get into acting until I was 19, so the only experience I had as an actor was in a school play, but that’s where I got my start.
I really like the role of Alfons mom, and she`s very much a part of my life.
What did you do when you got a call from the studio to come and do this movie?
I called them back a few weeks later and said I was going to do it.
The producers were very excited and I went in for a quick interview.
I went into the audition with my mum and dad, who are both very big fans of Cars.
I got the role and I’ve got a lot more to do in the film.
What was the reaction like to the idea for a car?
It was a bit strange, but it was very exciting.
It was exciting to get the part.
I knew I wanted to do this for a very long time and the chance was fantastic.
I feel so lucky that the studio gave me this opportunity.
How long did you think about this project, before it actually happened?
I was working with the script in the studio for the past two years and I felt that it was going too fast and it wasn’t right, so then I did what I thought was the right thing to do, which were I started doing my research and started working on the character, which took about three years.
How long did it take for the script to come to the table?
I had been talking to a lot producers and agents about this movie for a while and they
